Panama City - Gulf Coast Cancer Treatment Center showed off a new machine that will help perform more accurate radiation treatment.

Doctors say the two most common problems with radiation therapy are when organs shift and errors in patient set-up. The machine and even the bed can rotate helping treat patients from all different angles and eliminating those problems.

Normally it can take doctors several days to get images before the treatment, and during that time the organ that needs radiation therapy can shift inside the body. This new machine allows doctors to get images the day of treatments, helping them aim the radiation more accurately.

The new machine cost more than $2 million, and the bed that can shift the patient cost $30 thousand.
