I got the chance to cover my first Memorial Day story...last year, I spent the holiday on the landfill with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office when an employee discovered human remains around 1pm...that wasn't too fun...

Anyhow, it was really awesome to see so many Veterans from previous wars all together...so many of them had served in Vietnam and a local Jackson County  man finally received his Purple Heart for being wounded near Chu Lai in 1968...Congratulations Army Sgt. Reuben Merrett!

While I was doing this story, I was thinking about my dad and his time in POW camp...so dad, this one's for you and I hope you like the story  :)
