In all honesty... I am not a real big Valentine's Day person. Not to be sappy, but I kinda think that every day should be Valentine's Day for the people you love and I would rather do something special for my wife on July 17th when it is not expected than a day like today when it is expected. In the end I think it is the little things that end up being the big things.
As you know I have a little boy that is pretty special and gets lots of kisses from mom and dad. We would obviously do anything for him. If you watched the news tonight you might have noticed I had a special visitor in the studio...
Charlie is a big fan of balloons these days. His mom and I gave him a 'heart' balloon as one of his Valentine's prizes today and needless to say he has been thrilled with it. I wish I knew the love he has for his balloon. :-)
Well, Charlie was on cloud nine until he was crawling around during the news and pulled the string for his balloon off and watched his beautiful balloon float high into the rafters here in the studio.
Our sweet boy was not pleased to say the least. As any parent wants to do... I wanted to fix this injustice right now, but I had no clue how I was ever going to retrieve it! Randomly, my wife told me that she knew that Wal-Mart uses water to spray on balloons that get loose in order to get them to come to the ground. Did you know this too? I guess it makes sense since helium is obviously a really light gas and water is much heavier, but still it is surprising that a few drops of water are enough the bring the balloon down.
Anyway, after some searching I found a water bottle that would reach the ceiling because the ladder wouldn't come close. It took a few sprays but it worked!!!!
Luckily I had Robyn, a director, here to document it and then Tom came in to help me out by tying on the weighted string. He explained similar tales of things that he did for his daughter when she was young.
So on this day of love, Valentine's Day, I guess this proves that we indeed will do anything for love. Even if it is getting a balloon out of the rafters of the studio to bring a big smile to my son's face when he wakes up Saturday morning.
Wishing you much happiness and love on this day.
