After the coldest December ever in Tallahasee... the winter chill is expected to continue through the month of January here in NW Florida according to the Climate Prediction Center.
Typically in a La Nina weather pattern (abnormally cool water in equatorial Pacific), what we are currently in, we see warmer and drier weather across NW Florida. The drier part is true, but not the warmer part!
Although the January forecast may be cool... the January-March time period is still expected to be warmer and drier than average. We will continue to watch the climate forecast over the weeks ahead and keep you posted with the latest. Also, January 31-February 4 will be Severe Weather Awareness week in our state. The schedule will be as follows... Monday, January 31: Lightning You can count on the VIPIR7 Weather Team to keep you posted and up to date with the latest in severe weather threats here in NW Florida.
