First off, my Crimson Tide looked adequate against my other alma mater, the Mississippi State Bulldogs (why can't I say or type that without Jack Kristal's voice in my head?), but we are going to have to really step it up against East Opelika and the Gators to have a chance.  I am somewhat dismayed that all the talking heads on ESPN et al refuse to give us a chance to beat FL, but that is fine by me...Bama plays pretty well as an underdog, and the Gators are certainly deserving of all the platitudes they are getting.  I expected a bit more fight out of Spurrier's Gamecocks, but FL handled them impressively.

I am now a 2 HDTV household...went down to my local volume discount toilet paper dealer and picked up a pretty nice 37 inch Vizio 1080p LCD set (and just missed Joe Moore in the process...he got my set's little brother, the 32 incher).  Hooked it up to my HD cable box and my new favorite toy, my Western Digital TV (or WD TV), which is an adapter which allows me to plug in USB media to it, and it plays back pretty much whatever I want on the TV (mp3, photos, and movies, movies, movies...)...within a few minutes I was watching a 1080p rip of Batman Begins and was fairly impressed.  Spent most of the rest of the weekend (outside of college football) tweaking and watching various content.  Very happy with the set so far, and am quite impressed with Vizio's warranty policies...hopefully I won't have to test them.

Getting ready for the 5, and the cold on the way!

Isn't it strange, no hurricans in the Gulf of Mexico. I am sad, love tracking them!

Jason-we lived in PC for 12 years and never missed your weather show. We miss you and still keep track of you. Will never forget your hurricane coverage with all the tornadoes and when Hamiltons went under. You did a superb job and we were glued to the tv and radio. Always felt safe and secure in your hands. Keep up the good work. I met you once in circuit city and felt i had touched "a celebrity" you are great. Sue Whiteley

Just wanted to let you know that Claudette - where did she come from!- Is directly over us as we watch your comments of St. George Island. I would think the Island is much better off that us - this is close to Dennis strength for the past 2 hours for us - yes we stayed here for Dennis as well. This however, not even forseen is probably really getting the attention of the tourists in our neighbors house next door. They say Jim Cantore is in Windmark - maybe he may finally have something to report. If not, he is welcom to come to Indian Pass!

Jason, Could you please make the number 231 small on the radar map it covers the fountain area we live in and we can't tell how strong a storm will be due to the large 231 for the state road. Thanks a million!!

I've been reading that the SST in that critical area in the pacific is increasing and is approaching the mean .5 deg C criterion that suggests El Nino conditions. This may bode well for a boring tropical season. Boring is good! :)

Jason, I know that it is hard to talk to you on the phone while you are at work. I have called in the past with weather updates from this area. I have an intresting question for you. Has there been any reasearch done on the effects of the earth's magnetic fields on hurricanes ? With such water mass in the atmosphere I would think that the magnetic fields of the earth would have some effect on the direction or the amount of strom surge it would have. I do realize that upper wind currents and pressure areas (H OR L)effects the steering of a hurricane the most. But I want to believe that the magnetic fields play some part in the paths of hurricanes as well. What do you think or know about this theory? In your hurricane tips segment it was mentioned that there are many secrets or unknowns about hurricanes. Maybe magnetic fields are one? It just makes some physical sence to me. I have a great intrest in weather, and understand the language and symbols. Please respond to my question on canes.T

Jason, I know that you were at the station on Fri., but out out Compass Lake we had 3 diff. rotations heading right for us, and you allowed the regular programming to resume directly in the height of it all, we had to watch channels 4 & 13 for real time updates, how can you leave so many people in your viewing area just hanging, by the time you got back to us the storms had make their way to Altha. What happened? Maybe too much at one time?! You've always done an outstanding job for all of us, but right when the heat was on, you were gone; and this was before you lost your satallite capabilities.

....just a thought... sometimes you give the temp and "feels like" temp...could you please give the wind chill factor in your nightly forcast? Much easier to dress for our constantly changing weather!!!

I think you will be happy with the Vizio brand. I bought the 50" Plasma last year, on sale for $899.00 and it's hands down a great TV. I was looking for the LCD but they had one left.. So far so good.
