Growing up my family always had some sort of pet around the house. We've had dogs, doves, parrots, I think my little sister at one point even got a duck....rabbits, fish, and even an albino frog, (yes you read it, I said 'albino frog').

Our first family dog was a dachshund; several years later came Shasta, a 167 pound Great Dane/ Rottweiler. She was enormous, but a lap dog nonetheless.

When I began my journey in college I moved into a 1-bedroom apartment and knew I needed some company. So, I found Hurley. (She's pictured to the right ---> )

I can't believe she's 4-years old already! She's an absolute gorgeous apple-head Chihuahua. Most chihuahua’s are very timid (and shiver all the time!!) but she’s very friendly. She is however, very protective...so if you knock on the door, expect to hear from her first.

After I met my fiancé Mathew, we decided Hurley needed a friend. So, Mathew adopted Deisle. He’s black with a white marking on his chest. (He’s a stud!)

 <----Isn't he a stud?

On April 20th, Hurley and Deisle had 4 sweet puppies. (I've got pictures below, so check out how cute they are)

We didn’t intentionally plan for Hurley’s pregnancy, but didn’t mind if it were to happen. Not knowing what to expect when the big day came, we had a ton of worries on our mind. But when the day did come, however, mother-nature kicked in and Hurley did her thing. I don’t know if any of you have witnessed a dog giving birth, but it will give you a whole new outlook on allowing your dog to kiss your face. (yuck!!) (Sorry I had to...)

We live in an 1100 square foot apartment, so lately it’s been a little busy with the addition of 4 extra little critters running around. Each of them have their own little personalities, it's absolutely wonderful.

We decided we weren’t going to sell them for profit; rather, we felt more comfortable knowing they each went to a good home. One puppy was introduced to her new home last week; so now we’re down to 3. All of them are now spoken for, and will be introduced to their new homes next week.

The saying: "A dog is man's best friend" is right on the money. If you're ready for one, they are an absolute blessing. It's a  huge responsibility, but in the end they are totally worth it. I know when I come home from a hard days' work, and my two pups are their to greet me at the door, all of my stress goes away.
