Peaceful Protest

In Panama City and across the world people were gathering to take a peaceful stand against abortion Saturday.

A group of about 200 people gathered in front of the Wal-Mart on 23rd Street in the afternoon in what's known as the National Life Chain.

This is the 20th year in a row for the event. Organizers of the Panama City chain said it's an opportunity for them to share with people why they believe abortions are a national tragedy.

Besides holding these sings in protest, the group also spent some time in prayer.

Justin Gagon said, "We're just out here to say a peaceful prayer for all those who cannot defend themselves, unborn children, and also to let mothers who are contemplating some kind of an abortion to just let them know they're not alone they can do it with our help."

The organizers say this is the largest nationwide demonstration they know of and the largest demonstration in Bay County.

Maybe I should go to a hospital and wait peacefully for new moms and dads to come out with signs that say "Please stop breeding!". Offensive, yes...but their signs are just as ridiculous and offensive to me. There are people having babies that have no business having them, and there are people having abortions for no good reasons as well. It is none of anyone's business what a woman does with her body, period. A woman's body does not fall under anyone's jurisdiction, and her right to choice should remain sacrosanct. Keep your God, fear, and ignorant sensibilities out of our wombs. There are far worse fates than abortion that befall our unborn. No medical care, standing room only baby mills and cold, inattentive doctors...don't sneer at those who have had their faith and access to quality health care providers stripped. There is more to this issue than anyone wants to discuss, and no willingness to peruse them anywhere. They are out there just trying to make themselves feel good.
