Another Panama City Beach event was held Saturday morning in support of a good cause.

This one started and ended at Pier Park and was held to benefit the Girls Inc. after school program. Participants either ran a relay or a half marathon.

Organizers seemed to be thrilled with the turnout, saying they were only expecting about a 100 people and had almost 300 show up.

They had runners registered from Kentucky, Delaware, Georgia, and even Texas. One of our very own even ran the long 13 miles around Panama City Beach. Newschannel 7's Elizabeth Prann ran it like a champ.

The official t-shirt of the race was designed by the young gals from Girls Inc., the non-profit is a branch of the United Way targeting young females. They help the girls with everything from their homework to even planning their future careers.
