Bay County Veterans Day Parade in Panama City
Posted: 11/12/2012 - Continuing the recognition of local men and women in uniform, Bay County's annual Veterans Day parade takes place in downtown Panama City Monday.
Man's best friend and friends of man's best friend are the honored guests this Saturday at the Bay Point Marina.
It's time again for the Humane Society of Bay County's Barkin' on the Bay event, and for the 5th straight year John Micida's K-9s in Flight will be the featured performers.
John and his collection of dogs, all adopted from animal shelters, have performed at Super Bowl and World Series games, but this event also allows your dog to be a star with frisbee catching contests, dock diving contests, fly ball demonstrations, and even a human look-alike contest.
The winners will receive more than $3,000 worth of prizes. You can also browse the products from dozens of pet service providers and merchandisers.
Besides a fun day for the entire family, Barkin' on the Bay is also a big fundraiser for the Humane Society's no-kill shelter.
Catherine Zehner with the Humane Society of Bay County said, "We just rely on the community's support. This is Bay County's shelter, their shelter, and we try and make it really fun for you."
Barkin' on the Bay is this Saturday from 9 to 4 at the Bay Point Marina. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for kids. Children five and under are free, and so are the dogs.
