Bay County Veterans Day Parade in Panama City
Posted: 11/12/2012 - Continuing the recognition of local men and women in uniform, Bay County's annual Veterans Day parade takes place in downtown Panama City Monday.
A Panama City Beach non-profit organization that provides short term emergency assistance to needy people could use a little help itself.
Because of the bad economy, Beach Care Services have helped more people last month than any other month in its 8 year existence. Because this costs money, the Beach Care Services is holding a big fundraiser to continue helping others.
The organizations' annual duck race and cocktail party is set for Tuesday night at Grand Panama Beach Resort.
You can sponsor a small rubber duck in the small rubber duck races.
First place is $500, $250 for second and $100 for third place.
But the highlight of the night is the people duck races.
Local celebrities will climb aboard giant rubber ducks and race each others.
BCS board member, Terri Hugghins said, "Where you will be on a large duck, someone will be pulling you down the pool, you will switch and go back and there are secret rules and we've already told you about them."
The event begins 5:30, and the cost to get in is $12 which will automatically enter two ducks into the race.
If you would like to help beach care services by donating to its effort to help locals or if you need help yourself, please call 235-3002.
