A local contemporary artist is spreading her creativity and her passion for art with the community.
Heather Parker tells NewsChannel 7’s Nicole Morten after traveling cross-country, sharing her artwork, she and her husband literally ran out of gas right here in Panama City nearly ten years ago. The rest, needless to say…is history.
Making a home on the Emerald Coast brings inspiration to Parker’s artwork, additionally, “Hearing people’s stories and experiences,” she added; bring influence to her imagination and creativity.
Parker describes her artwork as “Rhythmic communication of lines, shapes, and colors that reflects my life experiences and interactions with others. Through my art, I create a dialogue with the world that combines the real world with my imagination. While my creations on wood and canvas have deep meaning to me, I feel it is important that my art present itself in an uncomplicated way.”
Whether you are foreign to a paintbrush, or an avid painter, Parker invites all walks of life to attend her weekly workshops. On the second Saturday and third Sunday of each month, individuals can express themselves on canvas.
This Sunday, March 21, Parker will be leading the ‘Women Inspired’ Acrylic Painting workshop at the CityArts Cooperative and Gallery on Luverne Avenue, in Panama City.
“All you have to do is bring yourself,” Parker said. “We supply the Canvas and the paint and everyone who comes out will walk away with a painting.”
Her adult art classes and workshops are run through Gulf Coast Community College Encore Program (Gulf/Franklin and Bay County campuses), Gulf Alliance of Local Arts, Panama City Beach Senior Center, City Arts Co-Op, and various other commercial venues.
