PANAMA CITY BEACH - The Bay County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident involving a Panama City Beach police officer.

Officer Jeff Heath apparently armed himself in his home in the Palm Cove subdivision off of Middle Beach Road around 9:30 Wednesday night. Police say Heath seemed distraught and was threatening to harm himself.

Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman was on scene trying to talk Heath into surrendering. Bay County Sheriffs' Officers and a SWAT team also responded.

Eventually Heath calmed down and the standoff ended without injury around 11:30 pm. The case is still under investigation.
