Florida Celebrates National Nursing Home Week

Springfield, FL – Long term care facilities across Florida are planning events in honor of National Nursing Home Week, which begins on Sunday, May 13, and continues through May 19.

The 2012 National Nursing Home Week theme, “Celebrating the Journey” honors the lives of nursing home residents and those who care for them. This week recognizes not only the journeys they have completed but the ones that are yet to come.

Florida Governor Rick Scott issued a proclamation for National Nursing Home Week, noting that nursing facilities with dedicated staff members provide caring and supportive services that enable the highest possible quality of life for our loved ones, and it is important to raise awareness of the exceptional care that nursing homes provide to elderly residents throughout Florida.”

In celebration of National Nursing Home Week, there are many events scheduled at Sims Veterans Nursing Home, including an Outdoor Carnival to be held on Friday May 18th, from 10 am until noon. The Veterans Task Force members will be joining us to assist our veterans and man the various booths.
