Rumors of Gang Activity at Bay High Have Police Taking Precautions Just in Case

Rumors of a potential gun fight at Bay High School Friday has prompted the Bay County School Board, Panama City Police and Bay County sheriff's deputies to take extra precautions on campus.

It all started as a fist tight on the Bay Hi campus on Wednesday and it has led to fears of a much more deadly fight on Friday.

A group of Bay Hi students has already been suspended after beating up another student. Some claim the fight was gang related and the rumor spread quickly Thursday afternoon the gang members were bringing guns to school Friday and shoot students they didn't like.

Lawmen worked all day Thursday on the case and say they have yet to confirm any of the claims, but that doesn't mean they are not concerned.

School will be open as normal Friday with extra deputies and police officers on hand. Supt. James McAlister says the school will not be locked down and classes will go on.
