Kyle Parkinson, Beau Brothers and Jeremiah Mason faced the Bay District School Board for disciplinary hearings Wednesday morning.
They face felony charges for allegedly stealing computer passwords and changing the grades and attendance records for some of their friends.
All three listened to school officials lay out their side of this computer-aged version of an old school crime. School officials say the increased role of technology in schools led to the intrusion, but administrators compare it to the boys physically breaking into a teacher's desk and stealing the grade book.
As for computer security, Bay High School officials say parents and students shouldn't worry about their grades. They say the system did what it was supposed to do: it caught the hackers.
