Panhandle students are preparing to head back to school, and some already have.
Monday was the first day back for students in Washington County. Vernon High School welcomed back a familiar face.
Dr. Bobbie Dawson, an alumnus of Vernon, is once again the school's principal.
For students at Vernon, the first day was finding home room and adjusting schedules, but for Principal Dawson it was the beginning of working towards goals.
"My goal for this year is to end up being one of the best high schools in the state of Florida. We're going to work very hard to get there. We have some challenges, but we are always open to challenges."
Vernon High School also welcomed a new assistant principal, Mike Park. He's also an alumnus of Vernon High School.
