Bill Husfelt's been an educator in Bay County for more than 25 years, currently serving as principal at Mosley High School. Husfelt says his leadership skills and close ties with this community will make him a successful superintendent.
Bill Husfelt has been in public education his entire career, serving Bay District Schools as a teacher, principal and coach. As school superintendent, he says he first wants to restore confidence that he thinks has been lost at the district level.
"If you talk to the parents, they love our schools and trust our teachers and administrators. But if you talk about school board or Nelson Building or superintendent's office, that trust and confidence just isn't there. So what I want to do is bring that trust and confidence level way back up where it needs to be," said Bill Husfelt, Bay County School Superintendent.
Husfelt also says there are better ways the district could handle the state's budget cuts.
"What I think we need to do is be more visionary and look at the future and try to plan. We can't plan for everything, but we can do a better job than what we're doing right now in planning for our future," said Husfelt.
Husfelt has been Mosely's principal since 1996, and led the school in becoming the first "A" high school in Bay County. He's also coached a number of sports teams over the years.
"We're Bay County through and through, and we love this area. We love Bay County and we want our children to be able to live here and have productive exciting lives. We know that education is, what's going to make them be able to do that," said Husfelt.
