The Bay Education Foundation will present nine $500 checks to local art teachers at the November 13, 2008, meeting of the Bay County Art Teachers Association.
The meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. in room 313 at the Nelson Administrative Building.
This is the first year for the Bay Education Foundation’s Literacy Through Visual Arts grant program, which funds programs that integrate reading and writing skills and the visual arts.
“We are so happy to announce our grant recipients,” said Marilyn Fenimore, president of the Bay Education Foundation. “The Bay Education Foundation really supports what our local art teachers do to promote classroom excellence, and we are excited to be able to help fund some innovative projects.”
Funds for this program were raised at the preview party and student art sale co-hosted by the Art Teachers’ Association and the Bay Education Foundation in conjunction with the annual Best of Bay student art show in April 2008.
