A Crawford Mosley High School senior, Andrew Underhill, has been named the 2009 Bay District Sunshine State Scholar.
Andrew will represent the district at a regional competition and possibly a state competition over the next few months. This rigorous competition seeks to recognize students of high academic achievement in science and mathematics.
Superintendent and former Mosley High School principal, Bill Husfelt, stated that Andrew is an academic and athletic leader. He also mused that Andrew’s quest for knowledge is endless.
Andrew is highly regarded by teachers and students at Mosley. Because of the nature of the competition, students must have broad knowledge of mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry and biology.
Andrew’s GPA of 4.0 and his class ranking of number one out of 487 was achieved with a vast array of advanced and dual enrolled science and mathematics courses.
Andrew is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Underhill of Lynn Haven.
