Bay Co. School Officials Want Your Input On Calendar

Bay County school officials are giving you the opportunity to help decide next year's school calendar.

School officials have posted two different calendars at the bottom of district's web page.

Both meet the new Florida statute which prohibits classes no earlier than two weeks before to Labor Day. The first semester for the high schools will have to go into mid January.

One of the choices gives students off the entire thanksgiving week.

Curriculum & Instruction Dir., Lendy Willis told NewsChannel 7, "The calendar committee worked long and hard to come up with two proposals that they feel are viable for the students. We've had the teachers through the teachers union give us their input and their preference. So now it is going to be interesting to see if the community’s matches up to that of the teachers."

You can vote up until November 26th.

Although school board members will have the ultimate vote, your input could impact their decision.
