McGruff Visits St. Rita’s Preschool and “Takes a Bite Out of Crime”

On November 17th and 18th Deputy Sheriff Harold Shover and McGruff the Crime Dog paid a visit to St. Rita’s Preschool to talk to the children about fighting crime.

Deputy Shover spoke to the group about seatbelt safety and showed them equipment that it takes to be a Deputy Sheriff. The children enjoyed getting in the patrol car, seeing the emergency lights, and hearing the siren. McGruff gave out pencils and coloring books to the kids who were thrilled to shake his hand.

On Halloween Night McGruff helped “Take a Bite out of Crime” by playing around with one of the participants in Freeport’s Halloween Safe Night. Kids and adults alike enjoyed a cold night at the Freeport Middle School football field.
