Bay District Schools Drop Out Rate Decreases

The four-year graduation rate for Bay District Schools students at 78.5 percent remains above the state rate of 75.4 percent.

There was a slight down tick of two tenths of one percent from last year. A comparison of the 1998-1999 graduation rate to the 2007-2008 rate shows a 22.6 percent increase.

Of the standard public high schools in Bay District, A. Crawford Mosley High School (90.6), Bay High School (83.6), J.R. Arnold High School (86.0) and Rutherford High School (86.3) all posted graduation rates above the district graduation rate.

The Florida Department of Education bases its graduation rate on data that follows every single student from ninth grade to graduation, a method that accurately calculates the number of students who graduate high school in four years.

The 2007-2008 drop out rate for Bay District Schools decreased from the previous year more than 30 percent from 2.5 to 1.7 percent, placing Bay’s rate among the best 28 percent in the state. It is also well below the state drop out rate of 2.9 percent
