Doctorate Program for Nurses Coming to FSU Panama City

Florida State University Panama City will be offering a new graduate program for nurses this fall. The Florida Board of Governors approved the doctor of nursing practice degree last week.

The doctorate will prepare nurses to become leaders in hospitals as administrators or clinicians. The program is designed for nurses with a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Nursing.

“This is a degree that's offered at several other universities around the country but it is significant for this area because it will allow nurses to earn what will soon be the highest level of practice degree that will be available," said George Depuy, FSU Panama City Dean.

There will be two informational sessions Wednesday, February 4 for anyone interested in enrolling in the program. The first is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The second is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Both will be held on the third floor of the new Holley Academic Center in room A-301.

Admissions requirements, application deadlines and degree program opportunities will be discussed.
