Enrollment for Bay District Schools Pre-K program is now underway and parents shouldn't waste any time. Only 600 spaces are available in the Pre-K program for the next school year. While Pre-K is optional, state law mandates school districts make a free program available. If spaces fill-up parents can enroll for the summer program.
If you don't want to enroll in the public school program, you can choose private or faith based child care for your child's Pre-K.
District Officials say the program prepares children to enter the school system full-time.
"This gives them a transition to Kindergarten. They learn the school setting. They learn some of the locations of the school. They become part of the school family before they start Kindergarten. We do pre-reading, pre-writing, pre-math, whatever helps them get ready for Kindergarten," said Pamela Isenberg, Bay District Pre-K Coordinator.
You can enroll your child online through the Bay District Schools website. Officials will notify you about your child's status within 30 days.
