School board members are also moving forward with a proposal allowing Newpoint Bay Charter School to lease the Emerald Bay Academy facility. Board Members are asking the District's financial crew to work with Newpoint Bay officials in developing a lease. Right now particular numbers are not set in stone, but Newpoint is offering a maximum of $345,000 for a 3 year lease.
Some board members say they'd like to take what they can get rather then leave the facility empty. Board Member Jerry Register is the only one who voted against drawing up the lease.
"I'm just thinking how much that building cost us, or cost the board. Of course it was negotiated before me. I'm just concerned it is not enough money," said Jerry Register, Bay Co. School Board Member.
Once the lease is drawn up, it still has to go back to the board for approval.
