Bay District Administrators To Receive Pay Cut

During Wednesday afternoon's School Board meeting, Superintendent Bill Husfelt announced the majority of the District's administrators will be receiving a 2% pay cut. He says he's spoken with the administrators about this, so it shouldn't come as a surprise. The change will go into effect on July 1, 2009 with the new budget year.
In March, School Board Members voted to reduce their own salaries by 2%.

"They have actually called and said 'I appreciate what the Board is doing, let us help too. We understand the budget constraints, just don't touch my classroom.' And that is what we're all trying to do. We know that. So, I just want to thank those administrators who have been so wonderful about giving up to help the students and the School Board," said Donna Allen, Bay Co. School Board Member.

"Although we're not thrilled about it, we are willing to support the District in this effort. But I didn't want to sit there and allow you to think that we'd be OK with another reduction," said Charlotte Marshall, Merritt Brown Middle Principal.
