Plans for three new charter schools in Bay County are moving forward.

The Bay District school board approved a recommendation for the formation of North Bay Haven Charter Academy elementary, middle, and high school.

With this approval the Charter Academy can start their three new schools next year if they desire, but a location has yet to be determined.

Superintendent Bill Husfelt seems pretty confident the three schools won't be opening until the fall of 2011.

"They have not settled on one specific area. I'm not sure they're 100 percent sold on starting it next year. I've kind of gotten the indication it might not be next year. But they wanted to have the application and process approved so they weren't behind the 8-ball if they did decide to do it later,” said Husfelt.
