Panama City Beach- Some of the brightest educators in Bay County were all under one roof Thursday night. This year's top teacher from each of the district's 31 schools were honored during the annual "Teacher of the Year" awards dinner.

A special committee had already pared the list down to 5 finalists; Nicholas Efstathiou from Bay High, Patty Tully Corley from Hutchison Beach Elementary, Dr. Michelle Creel from Oakland Terrace School, Deidre Smith from Waller Elementary, and this year's winner, Anna Catherine Hull, a teacher for the 4th grade gifted students at Patronis Elementary School.

"I'm very honored and humbled to have recieved this award, it's just absolutely beyond my greatest expectations. The other top 5 people are just completely amazing and it's just absolutely fantastic," said Hull. She will go on to represent Bay County in the Florida "Teacher of the Year" awards ceremony. She also recieves a prize package including a scholarship in her name to a Gulf Coast Community Colllege student majoring in education at the FSU Panama City campus. Hull also recieves a cruise for two. The major sponsor of the event is the News Herald.
