Panama City Beach - Binders, markers, pencils, and crayons are all things the Risalvato kids are packing in their backpacks for the first day of school. Their mom Sarah says she enjoys preparing the kids for their first day back at school.
"On one hand its like we can't believe its here but on the other hand its been an unusually long summer so its a double edged sword mixed with emotions for it," said Sarah Risalvato.
Thomas will be entering the 5th grade and his younger sister Anna-Katherine is going into first grade at Patronis Elementary School. Both are eager.
"I’m excited to see some friends I didn't see over the summer and I’m also sad because I’m going to miss playing and having fun around here," said Thomas Risalvato.
"I like playing on the playground and doing math and writing," said Anna-Katherine.
But, unlike his sister Thomas is a senior on campus this year, and only the important classes matter.
"Probably lunch because its a break to eat and it's always fun to have time to talk with your friends," said Thomas.
That's why they helped their mom make them a well balanced lunch. The Risalvato's, like many families, have been preparing for the first day for almost a week.
"Several nights before school starts we certainty go to bed a little earlier and get into the routine," said Sarah.
