Florida University Enrollment up 2.6 Percent

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Enrollment is up by 8,234 students at Florida's public universities.
That's a 2.6 percent increase for 2011-12, pushing the total to 329,737 students.
The State University System released the figures Thursday.
Average ACT scores for incoming students last fall also were up by one point to 26. The SAT average was unchanged at 1,172.
Central Florida remains the largest of the 11 universities with 58,698 students followed by Florida at 49,785.

Next are Florida International, 47,966; South Florida, 47,362; Florida State, 41,557; Florida Atlantic, 29,304, and North Florida, 16,368.

Then come Florida A&M, 13,207; Florida Gulf Coast, 12,655; West Florida, 11,990, and New College, 845.

Florida, South Florida and Florida A&M were the only schools where enrollment declined, all by less than 1 percent.
