SAT Scores Are Lower Than Previous Years

This nation's graduating seniors posted lower scores on their SAT's.

That's according to the College Board, who says the average combined score was 1500, that's six points below last year.

The report finds that average scores fell an average of 18 points, compared to five years ago. For high school seniors who graduated last spring, reading scores were down 3 points, reaching an all-time low. The SAT writing section scores dropped 2 points on average. Math scores were down 1 point.

A College Board executive says the falling scores should serve as a "call to action" to improve college preparation for high school students.

A perfect score on the SAT is 2400.
