Students Hold Mock Trial

Area students had the opportunity to learn more about how the government works with hands-on activities. Today, students had a chance to participate in a mock trial where they played the roles of the jury and the witnesses.

Although the students didn't act as the lawyer or judge in this mock trial, the point of the Junior Leadership Bay program isn't to get students into law, it's main mission is to encourage students to bring their talents back to Bay County once they've graduated from college.

The program runs from October to May of each year and students must be a junior in high school to participate and they must apply in order to qualify. Each year, one student is chosen to receive a 4-year scholarship to Gulf Coast State College and Florida State University's Panama City campus.
