PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP)-- What was thought to be just a simple argument outside a high school gym has turned into much more than that.
On Friday January 6, Bay County Sheriff's Office School Resource Deputies were told about a fight outside the gym at Bay High School. When deputies went to investigate they found several small groups of people mostly just arguing with each other. Deputies broke up the argument and sent everyone home.
Later, a statement was made by someone at the game that there had been a gun pointed during the argument outside the gym. By this time, everyone involved had been sent home and there was no one left to question. When the deputies had broken up the argument, no one had mentioned a gun.
The next morning, deputies were able to develop information that the person who allegedly pointed the gun during the argument was Curtis James Jackson, Jr., 15, of Panama City. A social media post made by Jackson was found that had a picture of him holding a gun.
A search warrant was obtained for the car belonging to Jackson's dad. A BB gun that looked like a real gun and matched the one in the social media post was found according to investigators.
Jackson is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a felony.
