PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG-WECP)-- A $2500 donation to a military families charity marked the opening of Panama City’s newest restaurant Tuesday.

Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe opened its store on 23rd Street Tuesday morning with a donation to Friends of Family Support, a local charity focusing its efforts on families of deployed military personnel.

“Our previous donation before was about twelve hundred dollars from another organization around the area so we're very grateful to receive any amount that is given to us,” said William Mallory from Friends of Family Support.

Taziki’s is owned by Panama City native Debbie Curtis who says she had some special folks in mind when deciding on a charity to donate to.

“In choosing a charity I wanted to do something that would support our military and to me it was an easy call. They are under appreciated and not loved enough,” said Curtis.

Taziki’s specializes in freshly prepared items with a unique Mediterranean style of healthy entrees.

The Panama City location on 23rd street in Coronado Village is the Birmingham, Alabama-based company’s 57th store across 15 states. It’s Taziki’s second store in Florida. The other location is in Clearwater.
