PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Some Panama City locals say they were shocked to learn that someone vandalized what many say is a symbol of American pride.
One of the shop owners of McGraw's Show and Boot Service in downtown Panama City tells us they put up the American flag outside their business every day from open to close.
Wednesday, they noticed three burn marks on the flag.
They say the marks look like someone burned the flag with a cigarette.
They also posted the photo of old glory on the shop's Facebook page.
"Just surprised that somebody would have the guts to stand there and do that in front of a business in the middle of the daylight," Brent Carter, owner of McGraw's Shoe and Boot Service.
The owner told us they were not able to see who was responsible for the burns because there aren't surveillance cameras in front of the shop.
However, they do have plans to buy a new flag.
