PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A driver took an unexpected plunge into a pond Monday afternoon in Panama City.

A tow truck pulled the vehicle out of the water. Panama City Police say the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. behind the Kaleidoscope School of Discovery.

We're told the driver was there to pick up a child from school. The driver told police their foot was on the brake while another passenger was getting into the vehicle.

That's when the car accelerated and headed straight into the pond.

The passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries. The driver and the child are okay.

Firefighters with the Panama City Fire Department were also at the scene to assist.
