Local ACLU chapter on new Florida gun law

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Governor Rick Scott signed a bill into law to raise the age to buy certain firearms to 21-years-old.

There are exceptions for people in the military and law enforcement.

The president of the Greater Bay Chapter says it does help to raise the age of people who can buy guns.

"The Supreme Court has said that there is an individual right to bear arms, but it has not said that that right cannot be regulated in certain ways," Mike Stone, President of the Greater Bay Chapter of ACLU said.

Members of the ACLU tells us another issue they're focused on this year is restoring voting rights to felons.
