PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - One local group is working to encourage civic conversation among other locals in Panama City.

The organization is called Panama City Growing Strong.

Organizers hosted a bid, wine, and dine event at the Black and White Tavern in downtown Panama City on Monday.

Local merchants donated items for a silent auction including wine, art, and clothing.

"If we raise a couple thousand dollars that will go a long way toward helping fund our next speaker. The more the merrier. We've got some great items to bid on," Robert Barnes, President of Panama City Growing Strong said.

The group is hosting their next event next week. Special guest Quint Studer will speak about his experience helping to revitalize areas of Pensacola.
