PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG) - Good Sunday evening everyone!
Quite the dreary Sunday Funday all across the panhandle this afternoon. This instability in our atmosphere is attributed to not one, but two different factors. There is a stalled out frontal boundary sitting to the north of us mixed in with the activation of the sea breeze. This triggered the plethora of showers and storms today. This trend will continue through Wednesday as that front isn't expected to move very much in the coming days, keeping our weather pattern unsettled.
Now for the good news. As we head into the end of the week, a ridge of high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere will build back in over the panhandle. This will help surpress shower and thunderstorm development, meaning drier conditions and more sunshine to end the week and begin the weekend.
Meanwhile, in the tropics, we are eyeing one tropical wave in the Atlantic. The National Hurricane Center is giving this wave a 40% chance of development in the next five days as it moves closer to the Lesser Antilles.
Have a wonderful work week!
