Airport officials offer holiday travel tips

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - With 11 days until Christmas, the holiday travel season is almost underway.

Airport officials at Northwest Florida Beaches International (ECP) have some tips to make your experience more enjoyable.

Consider checking in online using your airline's website to print boarding passes up to 24 hours before departure.

Travelers at ECP have three separate on-site parking options:
1. Covered parking ($13/day)
2. Short-term lot ($11/day)
3. Long-term parking ($9/day)

Get to the airport at least two hours before your flight so you can park, check your bags in, and go through security checkpoints without rushing.

Also, have your government-issued ID ready to present at the ticket counter and security checkpoint.

Remember the TSA's 3-1-1 rule for carry-on items. That is, three ounces per container in a clear one quart bag per passenger.

Don't pack wrapped gifts because they may need to be opened for inspection.

For a full list of banned and permitted items, visit the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) website. You can all go to ECP's website for important traveler information, including the status of your flight and airline contact information. Those links can be found at the top right of this article.
