Compassion Week

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG) - Showing compassion for others can go a long way in bringing a community together. In a week-long series, NewsChannel 7 Today will show the ways our community shows compassion to others.

Some Bay County students are learning about acceptance and kindness through "Wonder". It's a book that illustrates the process a child with a facial deformity goes through to gain acceptance and understanding at school. The book has been adapted into a movie, which will premiere on Friday, November 13th.

NewsChannel 7 is inviting you and your family to attend the premiere of the movie "Wonder" at The Grande 16 Theater in Pier Park. You can win tickets to the event and join Jessica Foster and her family as we watch the movie together. Simply register online to win a family pack of four tickets.

There will also be a collection box set-up at the theater on Friday where you can drop off full-size hygiene items needed for self-esteem bags that will be distributed to teens in our community through a non-profit called Simply Self Esteem.

The items needed for the self-esteem bags for males and females include:
Toothbrushes and Toothpaste
Shampoo and Conditioner
Body Wash
Deodorant
Shave Cream
Razors
Bars of Soap
