Craig Bishop named "Partner of the Year"

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - On Thursday, a Jackson County farmer was honored for his protection of natural resources.

Craig Bishop was named the inaugural winner of the Northwest Florida Water Management District's "Partner of the Year" award.

Bishop owns and operates Bishop Farms. Water Management officials say he has partnered with the District on a variety of programs.

When asked what he thought about being the first recipient of the award, Bishop said it was unexpected.

"There's a lot of farmers in Jackson County and this is Water Management, the whole district, so I was very humbled to receive this award from them," Bishop said.

He was presented with a "Partner of the Year" plaque.

His name will be on a trophy housed at the Northwest Florida Water Management District's headquarters.
