"Cupcake girl" honored by Franklin County Sheriff

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - For one Washington County girl, when she heard about the fire that destroyed homes in Eastpoint, she knew she wanted to help out. Brenlea Thorton raised thousands of dollars selling cupcakes and donated it all to the victims.

Wednesday she was surprised by someone who wanted to say thank you.

Franklin County Sheriff A.J. Smith met Brenlea and presented her with a certificate from the sheriff's office.

"Everyone in the office was extremely humbled by this young heart and her willingness to help others. We can’t say enough about the generosity of people through this tragedy, however when young people get involved, it makes the world seem right," was posted on the Franklin County Sheriff's Office Facebook page Wednesday.
