December 2017: Strong month for Panama City Beach bed tax collections

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Visit Panama City Beach and the Bay County Tourist Development Council report collections for December 2017 were up nearly 20 percent compared to December 2016.

Reports show Panama City Beach is up 5.5 percent for the fiscal year as well, which began October 2017.

"December results reflect strong holiday season visitation that carried through the 10th Annual New Year's Eve Beach Ball Drop festivities," Visit Panama City Beach President and CEO Dan Rowe said in a press release. "Panama City Beach has evolved into a destination for so many to make vacation memories all 12 months including ringing in the new year."

The Tourist Development Tax in Bay County is a five percent tax on short-term rentals including hotels and condominiums.
