BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Early voting in Bay County began this weekend with a strong start.
According to the Supervisor of Elections office, more than 2,000 people took advantage of early voting during the weekend.
The supervisor himself, Mark Andersen, said a record number of people in Bay County are registered to vote this year, totaling 113,000 people.
Andersen said throughout the weekend no polling site saw lines form, and he reported a fast and easy start to voting.
He said the eager voters are early, especially in elections decided in August.
"If you're not voting in this election for August 30 or right now in early voting, you're gonna have other people making the decisions for you," he said.
People in Bay County have four early voting locations to choose from. For early voting, it doesn't matter which location you choose:
-The Supervisor of Elections Office at 830 W 11th St.
-The Lynn Haven City Hall Annex at 108 E 9th St.
-The Springfield Community Center at 3728 E 3rd St.
-The Panama City Beach Senior Center at 423 Lyndell Ln.
Early voting continues through Saturday August 27. The polls will be closed the following Sunday and Monday before opening back up Tuesday, August 30.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
