CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The next time the Crestview Police Department has to calm a child, they'll be prepared, thanks to Eglin Air Force Base.
Officials say the base donated 1,000 stuffed animals to the department. The drive was led by Staff Sgt. Teara Nedimyer who is a mother of an 8-month-old. She said sh always wanted to host a teddy bear drive and wanted to give local kids comfort and a companion.
She placed boxes all over the base in April and by the end of May, 1,000 had been collected. June 7th, Nedimyer and her colleagues delivered them to the department.
Along with helping calm anxious children, some of the new stuffed animals will be used for the annual Toy Run held during Christmas time.
