BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A road project extending from State Road 390 and Jenks Avenue to State Road 77 is causing some concern in Bay County.
The Florida Department of Transportation hosted a public hearing Thursday afternoon to hear those concerns.
Transportation officials say the project includes widening part of the current road from two to six lanes. They say they're also planning on adding medians, sidewalks and bike lanes, but the FDOT spokesperson says this is just the beginning.
"Now this is just one segment, we still have two other segments that we'll be doing as well. The segment from Jenks to Baldwin and a segment from Baldwin to 23rd Street. So all of these different segments of 390 will be widening from two to six lanes, that's our major part of this project," Florida Department of Transportation Spokesperson Ian Satter said.
Satter also said construction is set to begin in 2018, with the public's concerns in mind.
