PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - According to the Panama City Beach Fire Chief, firefighters from Bay County, Panama City Beach, and Thomas Drive stations responded to the fire on Sunset Lane a little after 12:30 Thursday.

Officials say they aren't sure what started the fire, but the family that lived in the house is out of town. Nobody was inside the home at the time of the blaze.

"The roof has been giving us a lot of hassle. The way the old structure is constructed and the way the beams are run and the tar on the roof... it's taking us a little bit of time to get it out, but nobody's hurt, everything's good, other than just some property damage," Panama City Beach Fire Chief Larry Couch said.

An unexpected volunteer also showed up to the scene. Neighbor Ralph Iorio brought his dog Bailey to the scene. Bailey helped to lift the spirits of the firefighters as they took turns fighting the flames.
