Florida Highway Patrol: Two injured after driver under the influence reportedly failed to stop at stop sign

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - According to Florida Highway Patrol, two people are injured after the driver of another car collided into them.

Troopers said the incident happened Saturday night at State Road 71 and Poole Lane.

Wilson Vasquez Lopez, 21, of Marianna, was reportedly headed west on Poole Lane approaching a stop sign at the intersection of State Road
71.

Troopers said a Kia Spectra was traveling northbound on SR-71 approaching the intersection of Poole Lane.

According to the driver of the Kia, Lopez failed to stop at the stop sign.

His car reportedly entered the intersection in an attempt to turn left onto SR-71 into the path of the Kia.

According to FHP, the vehicles then collided.

Lopez was reportedly arrested for driving under the influence. The driver and passenger of the Kia were taken to a local hospital where the driver was treated and released and the passenger was admitted due to serious bodily injuries.

Vasquez Lopez faces charges of DUI with Property Damage, DUI with Serious Bodily Injury, No Driver's License, and Violation of Right of Way.
