Gulf Power seeks rate increase

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Public Service Commission held a hearing Friday in Panama City about Gulf Power's possible rate increase.

The utility is asking for an increase in the base rate which every customer pays, from $18 to $47 a month.

If approved, the price per kilowatt hour will drop from 4.5 cents an hour to a little more than three cents an hour.

The bottom line on an average customer's bill would be about $15 a month, which is a ten percent increase over current rates.
